Staples and Stapling

Staples are one of the most commonly used office supplies at work, at school, and at home. Stapling is the most common form of binding documents, but a staple is frequently used for other purposes, such as to hang papers and signs. Staples range in size from economy to heavy duty. An economy staple can bind about 20 sheets of paper and are common, everyday staples. Premium staples are a little larger and higher quality and can usually bind approximately 25 sheets. Heavy duty staples are robust and reliable, have longer legs and can be used to bind approximately 200 sheets.

Definition of staple - a small flattened U-shaped piece of wire used to fasten papers together.

Staples are packaged in strips that can be easily inserted into a stapler. They are sold in boxed quantities ranging from 210 to 30,000 staples and come in different shank lengths such as 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 9mm, 10mm, 12mm, 15mm, 17mm, 20mm and 24mm.
